Our business opened its doors in 2021, but our story starts years before.
Tennessee natives, we have over 35 years of combined experience serving our neighbors and helping you manage your tax prep, tax planning, and tax filing, setting up a new small business, planning your estate, managing your bookkeeping, processing payroll, and so much more. We are invested in getting to know our customers and building strong relationships because we believe tax and accounting is personal, and we can’t wait to get to know you!
Meet Magan
Magan Morris graduated from Lipscomb University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Accountancy degree. She is a licensed CPA in the State of Tennessee. Magan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Magan has experience working with clients in various industries providing tax preparation, consulting, accounting, and assurance services for individuals and small businesses.
Magan and her husband, Jesse, are both natives of Dickson. They have one daughter, Lucy, who keeps them busy all the time!
Meet Kevin
John “Kevin” Rye graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Masters of Accountancy from Belmont University in 1995.
He has worked in various capacities in the private and public sector with over 20 years of experience serving as a CFO and principal of a public practice.
Kevin’s areas of practice have included Home Health Care, Hospitals, construction, and other small privately held companies. He specializes in providing tax and business consulting and strategic planning.
Kevin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Meet Hu
Hu graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in August 1969. After graduation, he was employed by Stone & Lansford CPAs in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In November 1974, he moved back home to Dickson and established, along with Mickey Tarpley, the first Certified Public Accounting Firm in Dickson, TN. He practiced full-time from 1974 until 2015 in all areas of public accounting.
After retiring from full-time devotion to the practice of accounting, he maintained a limited role until February of this year, when he joined the firm of Morris & Rye, CPAs when his involvement increased.

Sharla Buckner
Sharla Buckner has worked with Kevin Rye since 2004 and Magan Morris since 2011.
Sharla graduated from Nashville State in 1986 with Computer Accounting and Business Data Processing associate degrees. Born in Platte, South Dakota, she has also lived in Texas and Iowa.
She and her husband now reside in McEwen. They have two adult sons, and she enjoys traveling with her family, riding bikes, taking walks, and working in the garden.

Janet Downs
Janet Downs is excited to assist clients with ideas and insights from over 20 years of professional management and administrative experience to their day-to-day financial activities.
Along with the accounting/tax industry, her career in the private sector includes not-for-profit, construction, manufacturing, and property and casualty insurance, having success in overseeing business operations, developing policies, improving processes, controlling expenses, directing/training staff, and coordinating projects.
Janet enjoys working side-by-side with her husband Barry in ministry and hosting family and friends.
